Set the tone, set your home!

living-room

Placing your furniture at home is really a challenge as interior design is a tone setter in terms of home decoration. Finding the right location for your furniture is never easy.

Where to place it and where not to put it. These are some guidelines on how to arrange things in your home. Though these basic steps won’t turn you to a professional interior designer overnight.

1. Living Room

These are just basic guidelines:

1) Think about how the room will be used, how many people will use it. This will determine the kind of furnishing you will use and the number of seating you’ll require.

2) Consider the focal point- this will let you know where to place the furniture depending on the location of your fireplace, the view, television, home theatre etc.

3) Measure the size of your furniture and biggest furniture should be the priority and should be the first to place in your room.

4) Spacing- this will allow you to move freely in your home. Don’t ever place any large furniture in the pathway.

5) Balance- Use your eyes to check the shapes and sizes of your home furniture, as you need to balance. You should avoid putting two big or tall pieces next to each other.

6) Placing the table in the right place, meaning placing it where it can be easily reached by people in every seat.

7) Before putting things together, lifting your furniture to place it where it needs to be, you need “planning”. If you can draw the room yourself the kitchen, dining, living and bedroom do it before anything else as this will help you a lot. Seeing your plan in a smaller scale lets you plan more efficiently. This will give more ideas and where and not to put things in your room. Plan ahead and this will make your life easier.

Enjoy your day and have fun! Don’t forget to set the tone of your home! Good luck!
