Light dinner: Your gateway to brighter mornings

light-dinner

According to the time-tested principles of healthy living heavy foods at night is the root cause for all disorders. The rule of thumb for successful weight loss is consuming more food throughout the day and end up with a light dinner.

Eating late at night is conducive for various health complications to attack you at your early age.

Eating a dinner according to your appetite (that’s what called a ‘light’ dinner) reasonably early is one of the vital things for your lifelong happiness, health and performance.

Your dinner should ideally be meat-free. If you can’t start it right away, this can be done very gradually. It’s always a better choice to go for a piece of grilled fish and vegetables instead of reaching out for a steak or pork chop.

You should plan carefully so that you don’t miss the other two meals of the day and ending up eating everything in front of you at night. If you do this you are setting yourself up for failure. Try to avoid carb-loaded vegetables like potatoes or corn. You can choose asparagus, mushrooms and leafy greens instead. Yes, these also contain digestible carbohydrates but the difference these make to the overall carb count is scanty.

You have to keep your temptations at bay if you really want to have it ‘light’ at dinner. Keeping junk food, sugary items or dessert in the fridge and pantry will test your willpower every night. Suggestion is don’t taste your willpower every night!

Keep in mind that a light dinner doesn’t mean you have to remain hungry for rest of the night. Choose lean proteins along with fiber rich foods to meet your satiation. This is a wise way to go rather than reaching for second or third meal in the same night.

If you choose to drink after dinner, choose a carbohydrate free beverage. This will be complementary to your light dinner. Stay away from fruit juices, soft drinks or other sweetened beverages. Water is the best thing you can take at night. However, if you find plain water not tasty add lemon or lime juice to your beverage list. Peppermint tea is also a great option for soothing your stomach.

If you wake up in the morning clear, refreshed and feeling light that’s an indication of appropriate dinner. If you feel sluggish and heavy in the morning that suggests your dinner was not light or you need to take your dinner earlier. These suggestions are based on the eternal principles that are governing human digestion. The more you stick to these the more you will make your mornings brighter!

Trimming Your Ideas and Making the Good Ones Grow

make-decision

Many of us has a lot of ideas but does not have enough time or has too many tasks and does not have enough energy. What do we do it this happen to us? How do we pick the best decision in a situation?

It is indeed not easy to make a decision especially when there are too many opportunities or you have too many ideas. You need to help yourself to pick the best among your ideas. You need to weight which will be more beneficial to you and to others.

Let me share to you some strategies that will help you deal with the issue of having too many ideas to best pick a decision on a certain situation.

Since there’s a lot of ideas on your mind, learn how to trim it down and take away those that will not benefit me or has a lesser impact. By doing this, it will give you a lesser list of the ideas you will choose from. We can’t deal with a lot of ideas because we also face constraints in our lives.

We have a limited amount of energy and willpower to apply each day. Cut out ideas and tasks that are good, but not great. Yes, say your ideas are all good and has potential, but in order to be successful, we need to learn to choose the idea with the most potential and cut the rest.

Now you have less on the list, choose two or three and rank them from having the most potential and most beneficial to you. It should always be a win- win situation. The idea that you ranked first will be the one that you will implement.

You need to be consistent on doing the idea that you chose and in case that won’t work, you can implement the two other ideas you have as a backup plan. But normally, the first one works.

Especially if you are disciplined, dedicated and consistent in doing it.

Life is like a tree, if you don’t prune some of the branches from your life, the important ones will never flourish.

Why Some People Just Aren’t Born To Work in an Office?

freelancer

Offices are typically describes as a place to work. You will have your schedule, a routinely work for five days and get to rest for two days then repeat. There is a code of company to be followed and bosses you need to report to. For some, this style of work is desired. I mean, punching into an office at the same time, five times a week, certainly provides a sense of structure in one’s life. But then again, there are a lot of us who simply can’t find it inside us to “lather, rinse, repeat” for extended periods of time.

But some of us aren’t just born to work in an office, which is not a bad thing. It’s just a matter of what works best for you. But why is that? Here are some reasons why people choose not to work in an office.

You can’t stay in one place for too long. It’s not the idea of working five days each week that’s particularly troubling for you; it’s more so the thought of being in the same place from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, that really makes you cringe. You like to consider yourself a rolling stone – and you can’t be confined to the same place for too long, or else you’ll go stir-crazy. You simply don’t feel productive in the typical “work environment,” at a cubicle or any place where you’re expected to pay attention to someone else’s agenda.

You’re more or less nocturnal. It’s been said truly intelligent people all tend to sleep later, and you’re certainly not the exception. You typically find yourself most productive between the hours of 11 pm and 4 am, and this has never truly coincided with your work schedule. Especially not with your morning alarm blaring each morning at 6:05 am. You’d rather wake up naturally and attack the day as it comes to you, as opposed to forcing yourself through the motions each morning solely to punch in on time. The way you see things, productivity shouldn’t be restricted to a 9-to-5. If you feel particularly inspired at midnight, that’s when you’ll do your work. At the same time, if it’s 10:30 am, and you’re just not feeling it, you don’t see the purpose of trying to force anything.

Dress codes aren’t for you. Dress shoes? Dress pants? A suit? In the middle of summer? No. In your mind, work efficiency is directly related to your own personal comfort, and you’re simply unwilling to compromise either of those factors by working in an office. You’re more cut from the Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg variety of cloth – which is typically fleece, at that – and take pride in coziness. You’ve generally been a proponent of keeping business about business and matters of fashion entirely separated. You understand the idea of making good first impressions and allowing your personal appearance to lead the way, but you also realize the importance of degrees of freedom between your legs.

You thrive outside of your comfort zone. You’ve always felt life is experience, and you feel it becomes stagnant once you fall victim to the same monotonous routine on a daily basis. You need to constantly be experiencing new things.

Whether that means meeting new people or traveling to different places, you feel true success lies within your ability to thrive outside of your comfort zone – as opposed to the sitting in the same cubicle.

You’re a “creative.” When you work in an office, you’ll most likely be required to conform to your respective office’s “way of doing things.” While this typically won’t be a problem for most, all your life you’ve always taken pride in your ability to do things differently. Simply put, you think differently, and you take pride in that. Your ability to think outside the box is one of your favorite qualities, and you hate the idea that you’d have to thwart any of your abstract creativity to “fit in” inside an office. It’s not that you’re incapable of following direction, either. You’d just would rather work in an environment that promoted creativity as opposed to a business plan.

You work best outside of the lines. You hate the idea of perfect order. You need a little bit of chaos. You work best in your messy apartment, with papers strewn about the floor and a pencil in your ear.

Offices aren’t very conducive to your style of productivity – and likewise, you’ve never been able to be too productive in any office. In order for you to feel fully inspired, you can’t be bound to restrictions of any type. You crave the flexibility to be able to pack your bag and leave for a different city, without having to send an e-mail with proper warning in advance.

At the end of the day, you’re a free spirit, and offices make you feel somewhat caged.

Lucky VS Deserving

Lucky VS Deserving

People are incredibly quick to tell you that you don’t deserve it. People are funny that way. We take credit when it isn’t due, but we don’t give credit when it is. The reason is obvious – people like to boost their own egos, even if it means stepping all over everybody else. Yet, in the grander scheme of things, it doesn’t really matter if others believe you deserve your success, your happiness, your life or not. It doesn’t matter if everybody else attributes it all to nothing more than pure luck.

All that really matters is what you believe. Were you lucky? Or do you actually deserve it? It can be difficult to discern – especially when everyone around you is telling you that you just got lucky. Keep in mind that no one in the world has ever gotten successful without a little bit of luck – no one.

Even if that bit of luck was simply not getting unlucky, you need things to align just right in order to succeed. Other than that, all that really matters is you feel like you deserve it. Happiness isn’t just about living a good life; it’s about believing you deserve the good life you’re living.

You weren’t handed anything, you chased the dream It most certainly feels like it’s been forever.

Otherwise, why would you feel such a great relief, like a heavy weight has been lifted from your shoulders? You may have only been pursuing this particular venture for a relatively short period of time, but it’s not the venture’s success that’s in question; it’s yours. Maybe whatever you’ve been working on – some sort of project, company, health goal, relationship goal – is somewhat fresh, but you yourself have been searching and trying to live a better life for quite some time. What gives anyone the right to tell you that you don’t deserve what you have?

You didn’t succeed at first, you failed and kept going. I feel like all success should be measured in the amount of failures it took to get people from where they started to where they are now. Because that’s all true success really is. Luck, on the other hand, is just the opposite. We say someone gets lucky when they didn’t have to try too hard, when they didn’t mess up countless times before figuring it all out. But how can someone say you don’t deserve your success when all you’ve been doing your whole life is failing? Sure, maybe this particular thing in question took off rather quickly – or not – but your life has been nothing more than an endless series of failures you believed would inevitably lead you to success. And guess what – you were right.

You didn’t make excuses, you made sacrifices. All success comes with sacrifices. At the very least, you need to be sacrificing time and energy and all those other wonderful things you could have potentially done with a bit more of both. Of course, sometimes those things we are forced to trade off are things we enjoy. Some have to give up on their hobbies. Others have to give up on their most comforting habits. Sometimes we have no choice but to trade spending time with those we care about for a few extra hours of productivity. It’s the time we spend socializing and enjoying people’s company that is usually hardest to give up on, yet is often necessary.

You didn’t get distracted, you never lost sight of the mark. You’re focused. You may have occasionally drifted off in the wrong direction, but you made sure to catch yourself and redirect your course as efficiently as possible. Even if you took a few detours, you were always headed in this one direction. Not very many people can say that, and often, those who do are lying – to themselves and everybody else. Too often, people believe themselves to be moving when, in reality, they’ve been stuck in place this whole time. True focus requires progress; it requires action. Mentally focusing on a goal is pointless if you don’t plan on initiating the necessary actions to achieve that goal. If you didn’t simply want it, but dedicated yourself, stayed focus and worked on it, then don’t let anyone convince you that you don’t deserve it.

You didn’t half-baked it, you gave your everything. Those who deserve greatness are those who had to push themselves past their comfort zone, past their self-imposed limits to something greater. Greatness requires betterment. Improving oneself requires pushing ourselves and going beyond what even we ourselves thought we were capable of. In other words, it’s going to hurt. If you love what you’re doing, then it will be a lot easier, but the truth is if it’s worth pursuing, then it won’t be easily pursued. Then it all comes rushing in. The sweat, the pain, the tears, it all comes as a wave. Greatness is reaching this point.

You didn’t content yourself with success, you became hungry for more. Those who get lucky tend to turn away from further opportunity, from new challenges. They usually know they got lucky, and instead of admitting it, play the role they happened to land themselves in. But, as with all things, their success fades. They never build off from their earlier success and never find sufficient reason to pursue true greatness. They simply ride out the success and inevitably fade into the background.

Then you have those who just achieved the one thing they were chasing after. They understand what they’ve accomplished and what it took to get them to where they are. Most importantly, they now know what it takes. They aren’t afraid of once again getting their hands dirty because they now believe in themselves. They are now sure of themselves and understand what they are capable of.

They take some time to enjoy the life they’ve created for themselves and then get back to the drawing board. If you managed to accomplish so much already, imagine what you can accomplish next.

Face your fears

fear

There is always that one thing we are scared or afraid of. Fear of heights, insects, animals, shadow, etc. But have you tried to face them and overcome it? Do you have the courage?

Fear, as most people would probably agree, is that feeling that overwhelms us when we’re faced with making an important decision or taking a huge step. Fear tends to make us afraid and causes worry. Fear is the first and foremost paralyzing agent of progress; it keeps us from becoming who we’re truly meant to be in this world.

There are many types of fears out there that disguise themselves as obstacles on the road to success. Fear of failure is the one that comes to mind with the most ease. Many of us out there are afraid of falling on our faces when attempting to better ourselves in one way or another; it’s almost embedded in our DNA to be afraid.

Disappointment is another fear lurking in the shadows. There’s something about not attaining a personal goal that makes us hesitate even the attempt to do so, even worse, letting someone down who counted on us to come through for him or her.

Being unwanted is the foundation of the fear of rejection. Whether it is love, friendship or any other topic regarding your individualism, being left out of someone’s life has the ability to terrify on many levels.

Not knowing is another fear that is capable of instilling mental horror. Fear of the unknown is one of the most common because we cannot be certain of what the future has in store for any of us.

Most fears control us. We become their slaves by believing they rule when in reality, it should be the other way around. Think of where you’d be if you overcame all your fears. Most of them don’t even exist; they’re works of fiction your mind made up to keep you from what you want to achieve in your life.

How are we going to overcome this? Always think that the worst things could really happen. But if we don’t face them, we will never know what’s in stall for us. You won’t be a lesser person if you’ll try.

So stand up, be brave and face them with courage. You can ask help from your friends and family. Even they has their own fears, too. But if you will help yourself to overcome it, surely, in time you can use this fear as your motivator to succeed.

“Don’t let fear take the wheel and steer: it’s a horrible driver with no sense of direction.”

Be Your Own Miracle: Staying Fully Awake at Work

sleeping work

You were drunk last night and you need to go to work early in the morning the next day. You consumed too much caffeine while watching your late night news and slept at about 2am in the morning.

You argued with your partner through the phone and the yakking and bickering didn’t stop until you noticed that you’ve been at war for the last 3 hours since 12 midnight.

You’ve enjoyed too much movie and never had noticed that the clock ticked. You stretched your weekend until Monday past one and stayed with your friend who just had a break-up situation.

The possibilities of you being nocturnal at the wrong time are endless. And you’re doomed to go to work the next day with reddish eyes, sluggish bodily movements with a bonus of an unfocused brain.

Staying fully awake and alert at work would surely make your supervisor happy. But with all the scenarios situated above, you might find yourself having an intense affinity with your desk because you can’t help but microsleep, or sleep altogether. It’s a ripple effect, your superiors would think of you as an irresponsible employee because you can’t manage your time wisely, you’re inefficient and being sleepy at work is downright rude. But fret no more as here as some of the many things that you can do to stay widely awake at the most needed time which is when you’re an employee.

If you’re near a window, let the blinds up and ensure that the sunlight is touching you. Not only this would give your table an energetic aura, this would help you stay alert.

More exposure to sunlight meant a more awake version of you. Sight simulation is also an effective way to combat sleepiness so take note of all the things that your eyes are seeing.

Observe the activities going on around you, look at you officemates movements and even form meaning on their bodily gestures. Be keen on all things that surround you.

Take in all the shapes and forms and colors as visual feeding creates messages that will let your brain function as expected.

Don’t keep it all to yourself and converse to the nearest person beside you. Talk to passersby. Greet them all with your puffy eyes and bedroom voice.

Long before you notice, you’re being engaged in conversations and your mind is taking double crunches in coming up with a sensible reply.

The literal form of communicating would not only aid you in being awake, this would strengthen work ties too. Succumbing to energetic tones and music would also awaken your slumbering soul.

Treat yourself because you’ve still managed to go to work despite the sleepy circumstance by eating a heavy and healthy breakfast.

Cliché sounding as it may seem, having a full tummy would keep everything inside you work.

Eating heavily equaled more cells and bodily function be more aggressive in keeping your body well-nourished.

Drinking lots of water would also prevent you from dehydration and thus keeping you kicking all throughout the day.

Whenever possible, go to the nearest comfort room not to sleep on cubicles but to splash your face with a cold flush of water.

Not only will these remove the excessive oil mounting on your face (lack of sleep tends to create more sebum and make you haggard-looking), this will make you feel refreshed and rejuvenated. This would also be of great essence in keeping your body temperature neutralized and regulated.

Mobility is also a chance that you want to take. Contrary to what you really feel, which includes just sitting at your chair all day long, forcibly moving your body would lessen the chance of letting the sleepiness in you take charge.

By simply walking, your body will release chemicals on your blood which will then let you be alert and awake.

Making your senses awake all throughout the morning is an important task that you need to bank on when you had a very long and rough night.

Some Common Reasons behind Bad Breath

bad-breath

The most common medical term for bad breath is ‘Halitosis’ which means an unpleasant odor of the breath of a person.

The person suffering from bad breath problem usually remains unaware of the fact for many days because people around that person remain too embarrassed to say anything. He/she knows the fact when a family member or close friend tells about it.

Some common reasons of bad breath are:

Poor oral hygiene: The temperature and humidity inside our mouth is very conducive to bacterial growth. Bacteria build up on our teeth, tongue & gums creating plaque. When mixed with saliva these bacteria break down food particles which releases an unpleasant smell. Hence, it is important to brush and floss your teeth regularly, clean the rough surface of your tongue.

Food & Drink: Highly flavored food like onions, spices and garlic or drinks like coffee or alcohol can cause bad breath problem. Even if these foods or drinks don’t cause instant bad breath problem, after digestion these food enter into your bloodstream and carried to lungs and ultimately affect your breath.

Tobacco: Smoking causes its own unpleasant mouth odor. Along with the smell smoking irritates your gums which lead to gum diseases. Among few common reasons of bad breath gum disease is one of the significant one.

Dry Mouth: Saliva in our mouth is very important not only for its role in digestion but also it cleanses your mouth as well as removes particles that may cause bad odors. If saliva production drops down significantly which is known as dry mouth (xerostomia) it can patronize bad breath. Most people are victim to dry mouth while they are sleeping and the condition get worse if you sleep with your mouth open. Without the right volume of saliva mouth can’t remove food particles that are trapped between teeth. Some medications may lead to chronic dry mouth problem.

Medications: Few medications can involuntarily produce bad breath by contributing to dry mouth. Medications like chemotherapy medicines, tranquilizers or nitrate based medicines may lead to bad breath.

Infectious mouth and other nose, throat conditions: Bad breath can stem from any surgical wounds after oral surgery or as a result of mouth sores. Very often small stones that form in the tonsils may give rise to bad breath problem. Chronic inflammation or sinuses that can contribute to postnasal drip may also cause bad breath.

If you know these common reasons behind ‘Halitosis’ it would help you to eliminate the problem permanently. Identify the exact reason which is causing bad breath for you and try to overcome the problem. Get rid of this embarrassing & unpleasant situation just by knowing!

Calories we need to take at lunch

lunch calories

At lunch time you need to arrange for enough nutrition for your body to get through the rest of the afternoon without being sluggish and drowsy.

Nutritionists all around the world suggest consuming fewer calories at lunch compared to breakfast. But this doesn’t mean dealing with empty stomach.

Going with empty stomach or gobbling up unnecessary calories will only make it harder to concentrate until dinner time.

Our calorie requirement largely linked with the body type and exercise regimen. Exercise causes calories to burn quicker.

So if you are an active male with lots of exercises throughout the week you will eventually end up with consuming 1000 calories more compared to those who are reluctant to exercises.

And by consuming these more calories you won’t gain weight.

You should always avoid empty calories during lunch time and these empty calories mainly come from junk foods.

These are foods that provide your body irrational calories without considerable nutritional value.

Foods like cookies, soda, chocolate, energy drinks will provide temporary high sugar level and empty calories.

As soon as the high sugar level wears off you may look for another quick fix in the form of unhealthier snacks.

So avoid these foods at lunch time if you want to maintain a healthy body.

Concentrate on having some lean protein at lunch. This will prevent you from taking 5pm munchies.

Something like tinned tuna or salmon, palm-sized chicken breast, an egg or tofu could be a good source of lean protein that your body need at lunch time.

Many of us come with somewhat non-traditional meal plans. As for instance some people for their scheduling needs eat more often — like five small meals in a day.

Each of the meals is only three hours apart. If you are one of them consume an amount of calories relative to the meal plan.

In such case you have to eat 200 calorie lunches instead of 400 calorie lunch.

Caloric content you consume at lunch time is as important as the type of food you eat. It is imperative that you are getting all the nutrients along with the necessary calories.

When this balance would be achieved, consider that lunch as the perfect one for you.

Beat the bites of mosquito with food!

mosquito bites

Summertime is calling us to spend most of the time in outdoors. This also means we have to share our space with mosquitoes.

It is proven by medical science that one in every five people is especially attractive to the little bloodsuckers. Mosquitoes find their prey by smell.

The sensory organs of mosquito can pick up the smell of carbon-di-oxide and lactic acid from an impressive 50 yards away.

When you use chemical repellent it’s the DEET that works as a masking agent so suppress the smell of lactic acid and carbon-di-oxide.

As mosquitoes can’t smell so they leave you alone. It is a common misconception among people that they think mosquitoes prefer certain blood types.

But the fact is people who emit more smell are more attracted to mosquitoes.

There are around 400 aromatic compounds that make up human body smell so each of us has a unique scent.

Among these 400 aromatic compounds about 30 of them have a masking effect.

If your body contains any of these 30 aromatic components this will make you less visible to mosquitoes which in turn explains why some people are more prone to mosquito bites.

So, is there a way to manipulate your smell by consuming food? Well, there is…

The smell of garlic is known to repel mosquitoes hence offering mild protection.

Eating garlic helps you from the odor on your breath and with the sulfur components that you emit through your skin. Use of garlic scented lotion is very effective as well.

A study way back in 1960 proved that vitamin B1, otherwise known as thiamine is very effective in discouraging mosquitoes.

Thiamine actually causes a skin odor that female mosquitoes seem to find offensive.

Vitamin B1 is water soluble so there is no danger in consuming high doses of this vitamin. The excess part will drain out with urine and sweat.

According to chemistry professors’ salty foods and potassium rich food increases the volume of lactic acid which in turn makes you more attractive to mosquitoes.

The irony is fruits and vegetables are potassium rich and it’s off-course not the recommendation to stay away from fruits and vegetables.

The plan is to create alternatives like you can eat apples, watermelon, cabbage, blueberries and green peppers instead of prunes, raisins, spinach, potatoes bananas and lima beans which are particularly high in potassium content.

Another way of repelling mosquitoes is not to exercise too much in outdoor when mosquitoes are around.

At the time of exercise you emit more lactic acid and carbon-di-oxide which brings mosquitoes flying to bite you.

Wear light colored cloths during early morning and twilight because these times are considered as mosquito rush hour.

Your Trusted Herb is Older than Dinosaurs

Gingko Biloba

Proven to be a living specie dating back 270 million years ago, it is with due just and respect that we take this tree seriously as it outlived other creatures and life forms.

Being a native in China, it had been widely-known that this tree had been cultivated as a source of food and its medicinal uses.

Gingko Biloba is a plant used universally as a traditional medicine, paving way to discovering other plants’ innate capabilities to cure.

The leaves of the Gingko Biloba tree is currently being extracted and made as food supplements said to enhance one’s cognitive functions and memory.

Whilst there are no scientific studies claiming the efficacy of this wonder herb, many leaned on the thought that since gingko biloba is a harmless plant; any aberrations would be far from probability.

Ginkgo is often used for memory disorders including Alzheimer’s disease. It is also used for conditions that seem to be due to reduced blood flow in the brain, especially in older people.

These conditions include memory loss, headache, ringing in the ears, vertigo, difficulty concentrating, mood disturbances, and hearing disorders.

Some people use it for other problems related to poor blood flow in the body, including leg pain when walking (claudication), and Raynaud’s syndrome (a painful response to cold, especially in the fingers and toes).

Some people use ginkgo to treat sexual performance problems. It is sometimes used to reverse the sexual performance problems that can accompany taking certain antidepressants called SSRIs.

Ginkgo been tried for eye problems including glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

In manufacturing, ginkgo leaf extract is used in cosmetics. In foods, roasted ginkgo seed, which has the pulp removed, is an edible delicacy in Japan and China. Remember, though, the whole seed is likely unsafe to eat.

Ginkgo interacts with many medicines. Before taking it, talk with your healthcare provider if you take any medications.

While still being tested, many people had seen the use of gingko biloba to remedy some simple illnesses such as leg pains, premenstrual syndrome, periods of vertigo and dizziness, even schizophrenia and glaucoma.

The gingko leaf extract is safe to consume when taken orally for most people provided that appropriate doses had been observed.

Some of the key minor side effects that had been recorded throughout history are upset stomach, minimal headaches and dizziness, constipation, palpitations and skin reactions due to allergy.

There are also issues rising about gingko leaf’s contribution in heightening the risk of thyroid and liver cancers. While these had been observed on animals with huge doses of the said herb, reasons stipulated weren’t enough to confirm that same fate will not happen to humans.

Ginkgo fruit and pulp can cause severe allergic skin reactions and irritation of mucous membranes. Ginkgo might cause an allergic reaction in people who are allergic to poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, mango rind, or cashew shell oil.

As aforementioned, taking or consuming anything from the gingko plant required professional prescription from a physician or a medical practitioner.

Some might experience fatal skin allergies and irritation of the mucous membrane. People allergic to mango rind, cashew shell oil, poison sumac, and poison ivy and oak might have the same level of allergy as with the gingko fruit, leaves and tree.

Gingko is known to thin blood and decrease its capability to form blood clots resulting to increase in bruising and jolting amounts of possibility to bleed profusely.

While it is a well-known fact that bleeding is rather dangerous, gingko biloba must be taken with proper information and expectations.

The Practical Feeding

breastfeeding

Breastfeeding in a personal choice of every mother. The health benefit of breastfeeding is known to everyone.

Apart from breast milk provides ideal nutrition for infants, it is also beneficial to mothers since breast feeding burn extra calories and help lose pregnancy weight.

Almost every mothers choose to breast feed their babies, however a lot has to face the challenge of doing it. Thus resulting to prematurely discontinuing the breastfeeding.

Some mothers thought that they are not giving enough milk to the babies while breastfeeding and later resort to alternative nipple feeding or bottle feeding.

Some say that is it very painful and that their babies are not enjoying it but felt guilty in deciding to stop breastfeeding.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, breastfeeding is not a “natural behavior” that mothers and their babies have the desire to do breastfeeding.

Rather it is a “learned behavior” that mothers and babies have to learn the easy and proper way of successful breastfeeding.

Every mothers and babies are unique in their way of adopting the process of breastfeeding. Therefore, there is a need for specific guidelines and directions to support mothers and babies for a successful breastfeeding.

Here are some suggested Do’s and Don’ts of breastfeeding:

Do’s
  • Teach your baby to “breastfeed” right after giving birth. You can do this by holding your breast steady, compress it and make a pointy shape with your hand.
  • Use RAM (rapid arm movement) – bring your baby onto the breast in a swift motion allowing the baby to take the breast as deeply as he can.
  • Feed the baby 8-10 times a day. The saying “what goes in must come out” is the very useful in breastfeeding. There should be 6-8 used wet and dirty diapers in a day to make sure that your baby is getting enough milk daily.
  • Make sure that your body is always clean. Regular bath and wiping of the breast area before feeding the baby is necessary.
  • Eating healthy foods such as green leafy vegetables, broccoli, squash, cauliflower and beans. Fruits like oranges, apple, peaches, berries, melons, bananas, and plums. Whole grains such as brown rice, rye and whole-wheat bread.
  • Have a lot of fluid intake. Drinking water, milk or fresh fruit juice than your normal intake will help your body produce more milk.
Don’ts
  • Don’t believe that breastfeeding is difficult and that it supposed to hurt. If the baby’s mouth is properly placed, breastfeeding should not hurt.
  • Don’t just simply put your breast and stuff into your baby’s mouth. Rather, bring the baby to you and support the baby well by holding him along the spine while breastfeeding.
  • Don’t rush to introduce a bottle if possible. Take the chances that you and your baby has to experience and enjoy breastfeeding.
  • As much as possible, avoid from including some of these foods on your diet; caffeinated products, chocolate, spicy foods, cinnamon, soy and salty foods. Also avoid drinking alcohol, beer or wine to avoid any alcohol content getting into your milk.
  • Don’t give up. Do not get discouraged. At start it may be difficult but with constant practice, a mother will be able to do breastfeeding pain free and the baby will get use to nurse on her mother’s breast comfortably.

Pooch Care

pet care

Dogs, canines, pooches, etc. Whichever we may call them, they remain the most wonderful living beings because of their cuddliness, friskiness, and most of all, they give us unconditional love.

Dogs have a mutual connection with their masters. They love their masters and the owners give in return by providing them with all the comfort they can give.

Dogs are playful beings. They exhaust a lot of their adrenalin frolicking most of the day.

Of course, after being exposed to a lot of natural elements while playing, our pooches need to properly groom.

Dog grooming is a vital practice which should not be miscalculated, a habit which guarantees good dog healthiness and hygiene.

Dog grooming is actually a fairly passionate program of dog health care that entails the entire life extent of a dog.

Puppy care, giving a bath, washing, nail trimming, removing dog fleas, brushing, combing, checking teeth, paws, ears , and underside, and regular sessions with a veterinary are all imperative undertakings that a dog owner should have.

Decent dog grooming provisions are essential to take on the significant activities of dog care.

A dog supply may comprise of dog food, dog house, dog toys, dog furniture, dog collars and leashes, dog carriers, dog beds, dog bath tub, dog soaps, dog perfumes, dog odor removers and mouth fresheners, dog jewelry, dog clothes, dog t-shirts, dog liveners & enhancements and dog medicine.

Our pooches also need to have a comfortable resting spot after their extreme frolicking. A dog bed is intended especially for the sleeping ease of a dog.

It should be the homey sanctuary to where it steps down to have sweet dreams towards the end of a lengthy and dynamic day.

Ideal dog beds play a very vital part in your dog’s well-being. An inadequate sleep may greatly affect the health of a dog.

Dog beds and dog beddings include a dog bed mattress, sheets, pillows, dog blankets, bed cover, dog bed cushions, and duvets or dog quilts.

Maybe the pooch is the only creature that has seen its god, for its master or owner is a dog’s inkling of what a god should be.

That’s why it’s our responsibility as their gods to provide what’s best for them.

The Art of Self-Confidence

Self-Confidence

We are all created equal and we are all created unique. It is with this uniqueness that we can separate ourselves from billions of people around the planet.

With all of the acquired skills and knowledge, all the learnt behavior through domestication and school, the bits and pieces of us harnessed from experiences, tough times and situations, each human being came-off as one of a kind.

Like our very own tongue and fingerprints, we are a great singular cut set-out from the others. You are you and nobody is like you at all and it is with this individuality that you can shine above the pool of gems scattered all around the planet.

But why do some people, or all of people to say the least, are having problems with bringing the dynamic selves that they possess? Why are there inferiority complexes evident on all types of societal function? What are the reasons why we are still not confident? And what are some tips on how to combat this very personal dilemma that each one of us had gone through at some point in our lives?

Self-Confidence

Two main things contribute to self-confidence: self-efficacy and self-esteem.

We gain a sense of self-efficacy when we see ourselves (and others similar to ourselves) mastering skills and achieving goals that matter in those skill areas.

This is the confidence that, if we learn and work hard in a particular area, we’ll succeed; and it’s this type of confidence that leads people to accept difficult challenges, and persist in the face of setbacks.

This overlaps with the idea of self-esteem , which is a more general sense that we can cope with what’s going on in our lives, and that we have a right to be happy.

Partly, this comes from a feeling that the people around us approve of us, which we may or may not be able to control.

However, it also comes from the sense that we are behaving virtuously, that we’re competent at what we do, and that we can compete successfully when we put our minds to it.

Some people believe that self-confidence can be built with affirmations and positive thinking . At Mind Tools, we believe that there’s some truth in this, but that it’s just as important to build self-confidence by setting and achieving goals – thereby building competence.

Without this underlying competence, you don’t have self-confidence: you have shallow over-confidence, with all of the issues, upset and failure that this brings.

Tips on How to Build Self-Confidence

While this is a very profound topic to derive from specified action plans, some tips and professional advice are available for one to ensure that he/she is enriching the confidence lying around his/her inner soul.

There will be no quick and swift way to do this and this will not be an overnight miracle. Believing and being comfortable in the thought that you can get past the inferiority that you always felt is a good start in keeping the self-development rolling.

A fair assessment of oneself is the best way to start rebuilding self-confidence. Being truly aware of who you are, where you came from and what defines you are some of the key points that you need to assess yourself with.

Because self-awareness is such a powerful tool in completing your metamorphosis, it is an imperative that you keep everything in perspective so that development and this endeavor in being confident won’t go zilch.

Know your strengths and celebrate it. Being able to identify where you are good at and what things you can improve on is one way of saying that you really are the master of your own self.

Without a clear perception of what makes you “YOU” is a blunt way of saying that you should aim for self-confidence at the first place.

Re-think all of the things that you want and start from there to create a journey or destination that you need to go to. Organize your thoughts about you and establish a plan that you should commit yourself on doing.

Once you have the goals in place, it’s time to oil the gear and let the engine run. Look at your endpoint as a near spot and keep on driving forward.

Be powerful enough to combat any setbacks your mind is telling you. Look into the most basic things that can help you be confident and embrace it.

Set goals that are just simple and small, then achieve it. From there, craft bigger goals for yourself and you’d be surprised to know how far you have come from.

Managing your mind and setting the correct mindset will not only stray you from achieving your goal but this would also aid you in stretching the confidence level for a longer period of time.

Keep your eyes on the prize and success is surely inevitable.

Being successful is one way of building self-confidence. Don’t limit yourself in identifying goals to be achieved but limit thy self from stretching the confidence to much.

Having a leveled head and keeping your feet at the ground is also necessary as going for an overflowing cup of confidence would be destroying you in the long run.

Remember that your main focus is to be the confident version of you and anything beyond that is just defeating your very purpose of living a better life.

Overconfidence will surely deflate you and bear in mind that you don’t want that.

Say No to Stinky Feet

Stinky Feet

One of the most abused parts of the human body is your pair of foot. Without them, you won’t be able to stand up and walk. You’re technically immobile. And yet, since we have our trusted feet, we go about using it in almost all of the movement that we would carry-out during the day.

We neglect the importance of having them, even to the point that we weren’t paying much attention to it that our feet had given up in keeping themselves at their best.

You got off from work, removed your shoes at the doorstep, turned the television on and slumped on the nearest seat available.

At first you thought that the stink is imaginary but then minutes passed and it became stronger, and much to your surprise, the foul stench is originating from you.

You then reached to smell your armpits, nothing. Your breath? Freshest ever. And then you looked down and saw your feet and you then knew the answer.

Foot odor is caused by focal hyperhidrosis or foot sweat. While the sweat is technically odorless, it creates a breeding ground for other types of bacteria to grow and then produce bad-smelling substances.

Generally, it is with the shoes and socks that we wear that can the odor are intensified. The type of socks and shoes that we use dictates when more perspiration is to be released as ventilation can be compromised or maximized.

Some ways of combating foot odor are as follows:

Use a baking soda-water solution and soak your sorry feet for about 15-20 minutes every day or as needed. Sprinkling baking soda on our shoes and socks might also help in minimizing foot odor. The chemical composition of baking soda is proven to put sweat on a lesser level and neutralize the pH level which reduces formation of bacteria.

Because of the acidity that the vinegar has, it is also one household remedy that you can try. The rather acidic environment that vinegar creates can trump down bacteria and other types of odor. Soaking on a vinegar-water solution is also highly recommended for about 15 minutes tops. Apple cider vinegar is the better choice for this suggestion.

The tannic acid that can be found on black tea is an effective way of killing germs that might be camping on your toes. Tea properties also include closure of open pores which means sweat will be minimized big time. Boiling two bags of black tea and submerging your stinky feet on it with lukewarm water every day would definitely do the job for you.

Inhibiting the growth of possible bacteria formation, alum powder’s astringent and antiseptic properties is an option to consider. A few drops of lavender oil tied up with water that you can submerged your feet in would also the trick.

While there are hundreds of cures that you can do to eliminate a foul-smelling feet, it is best to avoid having it at the first place. By simply being hygienic, you can dismiss having this kind of issue in the future. Make sure to wear your shoes with clean and pristine socks.

This move not only eliminates the possibility of acquiring the stench but wearing a presentable pair of socks is such an eye candy. Using cotton socks absorb sweat more effectively.

Those made with nylon is unfashionable and uncomfortable at the same time. Religiously swabbing your feet with isoprophyl alcohol would also lessen the risk of having smelly toes.

Powders made fit for feet care are also widely available in the market.

Fell in Love with Summer and Barbecue

Summer Barbecue

The atrocity of achieving a summer sexy body ironically ends when summer begins.

When one had exposed his/her well-sculpted body and sashayed the beach with accompanying posts in Instagram, it will be expected that he/she would be devouring all the food available after a longish deprivation.

One trip to the beach is deemed enough and the summer body can be flushed down the drain.

Appetites would surely be back and the smell of sumptuous grills and fried would be appetizing once again.

The normal life is now at hand and eating won’t be a mortal sin, anymore, for the mean time until next pre-summer preparation.

One of the many notable types of food to be present during the summer season is anything barbecued.

These artery-clogging, blood slowing chunks of meat being cooked under the most delicate temperature of coal and fire is a must-eat when the family is out at the beach or at the backyard lawn.

Men always find barbecued meat pieces of Heaven on this earth while girls felt unnecessarily guilty while devouring it.

Every once in a while, eating barbecued food is like treating yourself from eating the healthy class, and let’s admit that all types of nutrition sin can be found on them.

But how would you resist a good slab of rib sweating on top of a mesmerizing plate of charcoal and all that you can think of is hickory sauce being splattered all over this tender and juicy delight?

There are several types of barbecue meat that can be found on beef, pork, lamb and chicken.

While it is of no issue whether the meat is from the front or rear end, it is wise to be aware of what type of cut are you sinking your teeth into.

For beef, the words that you need to look for are as follows: brisket (best smoked), chuck (for roasts and hamburgers), plate (inexpensive tough and fatty part), short loin (best for T-bone steaks) and shank (toughest of all the cuts). If you’re into pork barbecue, the types of cuts available are: back ribs (perfect for honey-glazed baby back ribs), blade shoulder (spell pulled-pork), legs (well-suited for hams) and loin (who want bacon?). Lamb is divided into three kinds which are forequarter (neck, shoulder, front legs and ribs up to the shoulder blade), hindquarter (rear legs and hip) and loin (includes the ribs and anything in between). While seldom used as a barbecue, chicken can be classified as a staple on barbecue parties and the parts include leg, breast, wingette, thigh and drumstick.

Any type of barbecued meat won’t be complete with side dishes. Conforming on what your party wanted, you can pick between a wide selection of side dishes that you can personally experiment or closely follow through cookbooks.

Some of the most used and famous sides that can be done are carrot and apple slaw, potato salads, baked native beans, grilled corn on cobs, creamy corn pudding, mixed greens, macaroni and cheese and mashed potato.

One trick in making sure that your barbecue won’t be overshadowed by your sides is to pick two types only.

Also make sure that the sides would be contradicting your choice of flavor on your barbecued meat so that tastes will be tumbling after each bite.

You also would like to consider that meats would be best barbecued on slow and low heat.

It had been proven that the lower the temperature used, the lesser fibers would shrink on the meat meaning a tender finish since meat won’t lose moisture from extreme heat.

Cooking generally tough meats slowly would break down strong connective tissues to form gelatin, which then binds moisture.

The amount of fat found on a slab of meat also aids in breaking up protein which lubricates the meat and make it tenderer.

Don’t wait for another summer to set in before you dive into the greasy yet fulfilling world of barbecuing. Pile up now, lose the weight later.

Eat to your heart’s content and yet take everything in moderation. Enjoy that sinful, sweet-smoky barbecue of yours.

Cheers to the Greatness of Salt

salt shaker

Salt is one of the many wonders that nature had provided mankind. Sodium chloride, or salt, is a crystalline mineral with vast quantities found in seawater.

Salt is deemed important in animal life and one of the basic tastes that we have is saltiness. Salt is also one of oldest minerals which are used by old civilizations for preservation.

Once an important part of trade by the Hebrews, the Greeks, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Hittites and the Egyptians, this marvelous compound had defeated time by still being present today, the modern society.

But aside from being an indispensible part of seasoning and cooking, salt had many other uses that we are not aware of. Below are some of them:

Soaking a new straw broom in a bucket of hot salty water will extend its shelf-life. Allow the broom to be soaked on the salty solution for 20 minutes, let it sit and dry.

If you spilled red wine over the carpeted floor, pour some white wine to first diffuse the color. Once done, clean the concerned spot with cold water and sponge, sprinkle with salt and let it sit for 10 minutes. Vacuum it up and proceed to the next mess.

Grease on your carpet? Just mix up 1 part salt to 4 parts rubbing alcohol and rub it hard on the grease stain, being careful to rub in the direction of the rug’s natural nap.

Watermarks left from glasses or bottles on a wood table really stand out. Make them disappear by mixing 1 teaspoon salt with a few drops of water to form a paste.

Gently rub the paste onto the ring with a soft cloth or sponge and work it over the spot until it’s gone. Restore the luster of your wood with furniture polish.

Hand sponges and mop sponges usually get grungy beyond use long before they are really worn out.
To restore sponges to a pristine state, soak them overnight in a solution of about 1/4 cup salt per quart (liter) of water.

When sneakers and other shoes made of canvas is giving-off a funky stench, absorb the moisture by sprinkling a dash of salt inside it.

Lipstick smudges on glassware can be hard to remove, even in the dishwasher. That’s because the emollients designed to help lipstick stay on your lips do a good job sticking to glassware too.

Before washing your stemware, rocks glasses, or water tumblers, rub the edges with salt to erase lipstick stains.

After you wash cutting boards and breadboards with soap and water, rub them with a damp cloth dipped in salt. The boards will be lighter and brighter in color.

When cleaning your refrigerator and you’re done removing all the carcasses in it after a decade, dilute salt in water and scrub it on the insides of your fridge to minimize odor and ensure glisten.

Cleaning up after dough rolled on your countertop would be easy by sprinkling your floury countertop with salt. Now you can neatly wipe away everything with a sponge. Goodbye sticky lumps.

Tea and coffee leave stains on cups and in pots. You can easily scrub away these unattractive rings by sprinkling salt onto a sponge and rubbing in little circles across the ring.

If the stain persists, mix white vinegar with salt in equal proportions and rub with the sponge.

With some many ways that the salt can aid you in making your life easier, it will be expected that you will love this simple mineral like never before.
