Gourmet or decadent coffee art, also branded as latte art is an evolving expertise that takes a lot of stern ability.
Baristas are skilfully spending their time to master this mode of art that takes a lot of proficiency.
Essentially, latte art is a technique of formulating beautiful coffee beverages by sheeting down steamed milk into a shot of espresso which results in an attention-grabbing form or image on the surface of your very own cup of latte.
It can also be shaped or elaborated by merely drawing in the uppermost layer of the foam, but this complex method is with the practice of the skilful pouring of the barista.
Latte art is unfailingly difficult to make. Unlike other artists who predominantly make use of paints and canvass, the barista is functioning with espresso shots and milk.
The different dynamics of using espresso and milk, combined with the know-how of the barista, showcases the different levels of the art per se.
The flawless artistry of pouring the espresso then turns into the last task for the latte artist and this is also considered the most serious step in the creative course.
Gourmet coffee art, or Latte art was created in the US sometime between the 80s and 90s. It originated in Seattle, the coffee centre of the world, and has been said made prevalent by David Schomer of Espresso Vivace.
In 1986, Schomer acclaims Jack Kelly of Uptown Espresso for the advancement of micro-foam, a very significant key to the art.
Wherever this type of art started, it has developed into somewhat a widespread art form. On YouTube alone, you can already watch a multitude of coffee shops and baristas from all over the globe making beautiful works of coffee art. One of my favourites is of animal designs like that of a cute, huggable panda bear.
The most prevailing coffee art design is the leaf outline. Every so often, you will see the coffee cups with forms of creative leaves or flimsy flowers.
There are other interesting coffee art designs that you can feast your eyes on if you go coffee shop hopping. At first you will even be taken aback and be hesitant to sip your latte in regret of destroying the carefully crafted foamy art.
