At lunch time you need to arrange for enough nutrition for your body to get through the rest of the afternoon without being sluggish and drowsy.

Nutritionists all around the world suggest consuming fewer calories at lunch compared to breakfast. But this doesn’t mean dealing with empty stomach.

Going with empty stomach or gobbling up unnecessary calories will only make it harder to concentrate until dinner time.

Our calorie requirement largely linked with the body type and exercise regimen. Exercise causes calories to burn quicker.

So if you are an active male with lots of exercises throughout the week you will eventually end up with consuming 1000 calories more compared to those who are reluctant to exercises.

And by consuming these more calories you won’t gain weight.

You should always avoid empty calories during lunch time and these empty calories mainly come from junk foods.

These are foods that provide your body irrational calories without considerable nutritional value.

Foods like cookies, soda, chocolate, energy drinks will provide temporary high sugar level and empty calories.

As soon as the high sugar level wears off you may look for another quick fix in the form of unhealthier snacks.

So avoid these foods at lunch time if you want to maintain a healthy body.

Concentrate on having some lean protein at lunch. This will prevent you from taking 5pm munchies.

Something like tinned tuna or salmon, palm-sized chicken breast, an egg or tofu could be a good source of lean protein that your body need at lunch time.

Many of us come with somewhat non-traditional meal plans. As for instance some people for their scheduling needs eat more often — like five small meals in a day.

Each of the meals is only three hours apart. If you are one of them consume an amount of calories relative to the meal plan.

In such case you have to eat 200 calorie lunches instead of 400 calorie lunch.

Caloric content you consume at lunch time is as important as the type of food you eat. It is imperative that you are getting all the nutrients along with the necessary calories.

When this balance would be achieved, consider that lunch as the perfect one for you.
