The endless cycles of Monday through Friday for work had been the second most constant thing in this existence aside from change.
You have gotten up so early and sleepy on a Monday morning and rush to beat the clock that says you’re already late.
You have done pretty much the same routine on specific time blocks at each day of the work week.
Monday would then be ended with a soul zapped out of energy, a pocket lessened and a long, slow-moving traffic that would eat up the remaining hours of day.
In short, your work dominates you. Instead of you living one heck of a life because you’re self-supporting, it’s the other way around.
You support life to live. As a famous passage says, you work to live and not live to work. You’re the dullest, most uninteresting people you know because you do your job way too seriously.
You have removed the spark out of working. You are one ruthless, non-feeling slave of the corporate world and you just blindly accepted that there’s no way out of this vicious truth.
But working is a necessity. Instead of focusing through the bad fence of it, one must always seek for the benefits of being employed.
Yes, Monday to Friday might be your work alter-ego but there’s more to working that most of us is missing.
It’s the by-product of being so industrious that you deserved all of the Best Employee of the Month awards from all over this planet.
Some of us failed to see the salary that we’re earning. The bragging rights that we have as we don’t rely on our parents anymore.
The self-boosting thought that your taxes are paving roads, shaping young lives and building the community. The sheer truth that you are not just a statistic under the unemployed rate.
You are a moving rock. You should feel blessed that work is here to stay long as you stay with it.
Employment is not just words you put in your resume, this is a testament that you are one mature human being capable of reasonable thinking and acting upon it.
When you feel all gloomy about waking up on a Wednesday morning and thought of your dreaded bi-annual report tasks piling up on the outskirts of your career, listen to the voice inside of you and think of your priorities.
Below are some tips to brighten up that shaky mindset and pull the drowning fighter in you back to the surface.
1. Know the ‘why’- If you find yourself on the pit of negativity and lackadaisical moments, always go back to the roots on why you signed up on the job at the first place. The method of always deducing your reasons on as to why you’re working will help you replenish your attitude and behavior. Regardless whether it’s your daughter, your old parents, you’re vacation plans, your dream car, your wedding day, you’re endeavor to put worth in yourself and in your life, you’re growing business, it is always of essence to see these things or whatever it is that you’re focusing on achieving to keep you pumped-up again. Nothing beats the feeling of accomplishment, and it is with great stress that you must always keep that in mind.
2. There are times when getting up from a deep slumber seemed way too difficult not because you don’t want to go to work but your physical body won’t let you to. Your body’s wellness is as important as your will. When you have a weakened body, no matter how strong the urgency is, you would simply not be able to do it. Take care of yourself. Quick fixes like general check-ups or medicating as soon as symptoms of flu kicks in are some of the many ways to pamper thy body. Go to the gym to release some sweat or jog three laps a night to strengthen resistance. Buy vitamins every pay day or treat yourself to a soothing massage at the end of each month. Eat healthily and never doubt spending your well-earned money if it concerns your health. Passe-sounding as it may seem, but your health is really your wealth. And your boss really would mind seeing you sluggish and disheveled so please, have the logic to be well-rounded physically.
3. There are some parts of the day when you’re on your job that you do things out of routine. Doing the same things everyday required a lot of willpower. The word routine sounded too bland and lifeless. Turning your daily tasks as habits would surely lighten up the gravity. Delivering things out of habit is a nice exercise to your brain and behavior. Automating a behavior by integrating it into your routine equaled less use of willpower.
4. After a bad day yesterday, being at the office the next day is such a grueling task. You must agree that this drains all the motivation that you have especially when you struggled big-time. Struggling is actually a good sign. The no pain, no gain cliché suits well on this situation. Being the imperfect employee that you are meant that an opportunity to learn is at bay. You don’t need to go on sulking at the sight of your boss and the accompanying sermon, you should shine above this supposed dark times by being comfortable in the fact that you will definitely learn something new. Go out of your comfort zone and enjoy the freedom out of the box. Working hard and failing hard will lead you on the same end result — growth.
5. You deserved a reward. Not all routes to motivation improvement are high-minded. By simply setting treats and let it dangle until a specific timeframe is an effective way of enticing your tasteless disposition of going to work. Be creative as much as you can. You don’t need to always make the rewards monetary or anything material, think hard of coming up with rewards that’s going to enrich your individuality. Go places, or try an outdoor sport. Treat a friend, or splurge on meat. Slash-off some impossible and laughable bullets on your diet plan. With whatever it is, don’t ever let go of the fact that sometimes, putting yourself at the top of everything isn’t such a bad thing.
