Don’t let your hair problems hold you from having fun! It is the season to go swimming from time to time; however, your newly dyed, just permed, previously damage now shining hair is preventing you from taking a dip in your swimming pool.

My dear, make no worries! In this article, we will get down to the root of your concerns and to just the right solutions.

What’s in the water? You’re swimming pools, as we all know, are treated with chemicals to kill organisms and to prevent your water turning to slimy-green. The chief chemical used is chlorine. Chlorine is a very reactive element due to its atomic structure.

It easily reacts to hair components that result to chemical changes, which manifests physically. Often exposure to chlorine will strip the hair off its natural oil that will reduce your previously glorious mane into dry, brittle mess. So yes, your fears are within grounds.

To prevent your hair from damage, rinsing your hair every after dip in the swimming pool is a must.

You also need to shampoo your hair to remove the lingering chlorine in your tresses. Apply moisturizing products in your hair to avoid it getting dry, brittle and with split ends.

Also, before you go swimming, drench your hair with clean tap water. Our hair acts like a sponge, so when it already absorbs some, it will prevent further absorption of chlorine-treated water. Wearing swim caps are preferable especially if you like swimming every day.

However, if your hair is already damaged straw-like, dry, frizzy, and bleached-out, you may want to consult your stylist. They will know what to do to achieve your old, soft hair again. On the other hand, you can also take some measures of your own. Baking soda solution, Vitamin C, and apple vinegar are some of the home remedies to wash-out the chlorine build-up in your hair.

Give attention to your scalp as well. The damage on your will prevent your hair from going back to its healthy condition as its root is already prone to damage. Do some deep-conditioning as it will stimulate your hair once or twice a week to cure its wiry ends and bring back the lost moisture.

Coconut oil is one example of hair remedy that can bring back your hair into its previous glory.

However, remember that treating your hair is a process and can cause time. Be patient. All things come at a time.
