Strike Whilst the Victory is Hot

victorymain

You might have succinctly quoted Bill Cosby with “In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.” on your recent Facebook status after a much-wanted promotion at the office.

You feel like you’re on the top of the world as your boss announced that you will be the next department manager in front of a massive amount of employees who wanted that same spot.
You breathed heavily and a lot of things swirled in your mind like bigger compensation, leveled-up power over other employees, prime benefits and the list never ended.

While you shook every hand that wanted to shake your newly-promoted ones, you have this dire need to jump around like a kid who won a tag game. Finally, you said, all my efforts had paid off. Success is you and you’re one heck of a successful man.

But after all the glitter and shine surrounding your newly-earned achievement, what’s next for you is still in shambles on your brain. You tried to come-up with something but ended up zilch since you really don’t know what to do. Aside from the power that you have harnessed because of your recent success, you have nothing but an emptier and larger floor plan that’s devoid of lines and dimensions. You are stuck with the success syndrome and you closed your eyes for a miracle to spank you in the head.

After your success, try as much as you can to not avoid failing. Failures are preambles or pre-requisites of a larger success so don’t think of you as immune to slipping. Upon attaining your success, you have been a firsthand witness that mistakes and downward slopes helped you greatly in being motivated and challenged, hence, you were able to get what you wanted in the first place.

The process of trial and error must be placed on the dim side, acknowledge future failures as it happen the way you viewed it before. Always remember that you’re still a human being and your invincibility is not to shield you forever. Take risks and don’t be afraid in pursuing a new path to tread.

Accomplishing this win is the start of a bigger opportunity for you to win more. Being ambitious is such an observable human nature and be the most ambitious person ever existed. If you’re the Head of Operations now, be the next CEO or COO. Use your current success to fuel your eagerness to aim for more. It is not being greedy; it is about you being self-righteous and you believing in yourself that your journey doesn’t end as long as you live.

Along the way, with your new responsibility on your new acquired position, you tend to let go of enjoying the success. Always remember to reward yourself. The experience would be a whole lot different when you also feed your other likings on other aspects of your life. Pamper yourself or binge on that Australian Prime Rib or purchase a new set of wardrobe. Splurge one time and save more after. Having something tangible to do would not only feel good but this is a reminder that for every success merits you a prize.

On this journey of being on top, you have encountered hurdles that slowed you down but get flipped you tougher. You have experienced a lot of turned-down tries, a plethora of unanswered calls for a positive response, unproductive projects and ideas and so forth. Now that you have surpassed all these unscathed, always bear in mind that in the event that these dilemmas rise again sometime in the future, worry no more as you know you can trump it out. You don’t neglect then forget things which paved your way to this bright place that you’re in right now, always learn to acknowledge.

On the flip side of the last thought, also never let go of the good things done despite the odds. Make a mental note of your strengths, of the bulleted ways on how you have solved an issue, of the people who inspired you. Bring these points to your next goal so that success would be inevitable again. The only time that you will stop dreaming is when you gave out your last breath. It is such a bummer to live a life without anything to look forward to. So even after you succeeded, be hungry for more.
