MEN – Since when do we care about the beach body? What we know is that, it is a current unofficial physique competition taken seriously not only by the female gender, but now by males, too. And when it comes to this, the beach is the perfect stage to hold the competition, where attention is the main criteria and the number of hearts on the uploaded snaps is the chief panelist. But since when being the perfect alpha male has become an unconscious race?
Women being objectified are the source of many arguments (and the source of wrinkles by many feminists) and headlines in the news. It started way, way back that it is hard to pinpoint the exact time. (There is even an ad during the World War II encouraging soldiers to fight using a picture of a beautiful woman showing off her booties.) But apparently, the pictures of pretty and sexy women will not be the only posters flocking the big billboards in boulevards and ads and – admit it – your bedroom walls, because men are joining them, too. (That is pointing to you girls.)
Of course, one obvious main reason is the social media what with news containing headlines in the likes of “Harry showing off his Perfectly Toned Body.” It’s time for girls to scream in delight; and when they do that, it is a rather loud confirmation that not only they approve. They are also loving it.
Then what would happen next? Men will go to the gym, get ripped, wax their furry bodies, and show off the hard-earned “beach ready bod.” That’s just how it is. And even if you say that you do it to feel good about yourself and impressing that bombshell you meet is just secondary, it still goes down to one fact. The nod of approval is the way to boost confidence, which incidentally happens to be from the ladies – unless of course you’re batting the other side.
With both genders are supporting one idea, there’s always a benefit in that; one that involves green bills. From protein shakes to personal trainers, that are just but a slice on how we can make money with the current favorite. With models and celebrities showing off their pert pecs, ripped abs and firm biceps, it’s not hard to get drawn and follow the mainstream. It looks good and we always love what’s beautiful. (That’s probably why we watch movies in the first place. Magic Mike XXL, anyone?)
With all the matters in between, beach body is a choice you can take seriously or skip. That pretty much depends on how you perceive your body image. If it makes you happy, then go. Who are we to argue with you?
