Take care of your cracked feet

cracked feet

We walk on our feet, put them into uncomfortable shoes and rely entirely on them while playing & exercising. Unfortunately, with all these workloads we forget to provide the loving care that our feet deserve.

Cracked feet mean the lack of proper foot care for which our feet can be bruised & blistered and may even have corns. You may think our feet can tolerate this type of wear and tear but in the long run this may turn into a bigger problem.

Skin in our feet is usually dry because of the absence of oil glands in feet. Cracked feet can occur in any person, however, persons with diabetes and athletes are more vulnerable to this condition.

Heavy exposure or excessive pressure on the foot pad makes the skin of feet to extend sideways. As the skin of feet is dry the extension causes to crack. In some cases deficiency of Omega -3 fatty acid and zinc can cause the feet crack as well.

Feet cracking can be dangerous in many ways. Too much crack in feet may result into split of the skin & bleeding. Through this split it is easy for germs and bacteria to penetrate the body surface which in turn lead to infection.

If you are a person with suppressed immune system it can be harder for your body to fight against the infection.

Besides, cracked feet cause difficulty in walking and you are not in a position to spend more time on feet which will affect your working efficiency.

Burning sensation and increased itchiness will not allow you to feel relax at any time in the day. Finally, in the initial stage if feet crack is left untreated it will require expensive treatments in the later stage.

If you suddenly feel your feet skin is less than soft you can reverse the damage with little effort. To start with make a foot soak to send your skin back in shape.

Take five cups of warm water and add one cup of milk in it. Soak your feet for 5-10 minutes and this will reach deeper layers of skin and at the same time will nourish the skin.

Then it is time to scrub your feet using salt or sugar and half-cup of olive oil or coconut oil or baby oil. After your scrub is complete rinse the mixture properly with warm water. Through this scrub dead skin of feet moves away.

Now it is time to moisturize your feet again. You can definitely use foot cream or body lotion. However, if you want to keep it natural use 2-3 tablespoons of honey with mashed banana.

Honey has antibacterial properties that are terrific for curing cracked skin. After the mixture is applied onto the skin, wear socks and stay like this for 3-4 hours so the mixture can soak in.

With so many vital body parts in human body, feet can be easily overlooked for proper care. But it’s vital that you take care of them so that they can carry your body weight and take you where you want to go.
