Effects of washing your hair daily

hair

Are you bothered by the dryness of your hair? We often wonder why our hair becomes dry though washing it and moisturizing it every day. This in fact is a question that most of us have in mind.

Dermatologist Lynne Goldberg suggested that “Washing too often, in fact, can do harm than good”.

Washing your hair every day is actually is preventing your hair to produce natural hair, thus making it dry. Washing your hair a lot means getting rid of oil consequently drying your scalp. Dry scalp actually produces more oil thus making the hair too oily as well.

According to Alli Webb, founder of Drybar, “It is fine to go a few days without shampooing or you can go as long as you can without shampooing”. The reason behind this is because shampooing too often may lead to hair that’s less than healthy.

Shampooing too frequent traps oils and may dry the hair and making it prone to breakage. Experts agree that only those who have very fine hair, oily scalp and someone who sweats a lot and has dandruff, can wash and shampoo their hair daily.

There are other factors that you have to consider as well apart from avoiding to wash your hair daily.

To determine the right amount of washing recommended for you, these are the factors that needs to consider:

• The Skin Type – You only need to wash your hair once or twice a week if you have normal to dry hair and scalp. And need to wash your hair more often if you have greasy scalp.

• Experts at Columbia suggested that people who have coarse or curly hair only need to shampoo once a week. While those who have fine straight hair need to shampoo hair twice a week or more.

• When your hair has gone through styling and treating and has been damaged, you should wash it less frequently.

You can try these suggestions and do not be afraid to go on few days without shampooing and see how it works for you.
