How to deal with an angry employee

LIFESTYLE - How to deal with an angry employee

Anger and negativity in the workplace can be very destructive, blocking a previously effective team and make the office an unpleasant place for everyone. An angry employee will not only addressed his complaints, he also wants to know that you are willing to listen.

Meanwhile, his colleagues want to know how you will handle the situation. Avoid the issue or defend yourself by attacking back will probably be worse. Instead, respond to the emotions of your employees to discuss issues that are upsetting him and finish checking back with him emotionally.

Open the conversation with your employee as soon as possible. If she expresses her displeasure at a staff meeting, ask if she would prefer to talk about the problems there or in private.

If she does not want to discuss the problems at all, tell him you understand that she might be worried about bringing their concerns to the open air and you can return to the conversation in a few days.

If it does not come from you, come back to it after some time has passed and ask him again what’s bothering.

Respond to the emotions of your employees rather than their cause. Say something like, “I feel that you are angry against me. I want to help solve the problem. What is happening?” Then listen to what he says without pause or retaliation. When he finished, let her know you’ve heard saying something like, “Looks like you’re angry because … Did you mean?”

Remind your employees that you are on the same team. Rather than attack his opinions or emotions, explain yours and say you want to solve the problem or to find a compromise.

A system is something to remind him that you accept before you try to solve the problem. For example, say something like, “We both want the office running smoothly, and none of us wants to dread coming to work. We will solve this problem, so we can all enjoy our jobs.”

Ask your employee if it is satisfied with the solution you reach. Establish that he feels better. If he does not, ask if he wants to discuss it further at this time or let it sit for a few days before returning.

Employees may be reluctant to stop being angry instantly, so give it time to cool down if he needs it.

Tips & Warnings

If your employee is behaving inappropriately or negative way in the office, talking about the effect of his conduct in the workplace instead of judging, condemning or yourself tangled in his personal circumstances.

Say things like: “When you refuse to carry out the missions that I give you, you lower the morale of our team,” rather than “You had a terribly behavior, and this must stop” Be specific about what needs to change and have examples of negative equity loans if it denies his behavior.
