Binge eating and why is it the most common eating disorder

binge

With a list of eating disorders classified by experts and doctors, binge eating must’ve been the most common, but underrated eating problem being experienced by many. While this may be confused with stress eating, the two share differences that set one from the other.

Binge eating can be a starting point for other eating disorders that’s been linked with being overweight and obesity. Doing binge means eating in large portions in a short amount of time and not stopping even the feeling of fullness occurs.

It’s like being out of control and being trapped in a daze leaving the person to reach for more food without any associated emotion. This separates binge eating from stress or emotional eating. Stress eating provides satisfaction to the person who’s feeling a certain kind of emotion that usually involves depression, boredom or stress.

Binging has mostly been overlooked and triggers other health conditions aside from being obese.

Binging can play a big role as to why a person suffers from serious health conditions like high cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease.

Many doctors perceive binging as a byproduct of depression, just like any eating disorders are.

People who suffer from binge eating are usually distracted about thoughts with anything food and usually feel guilty or ashamed after realizing that they have ingested a certain amount of food that’s beyond normal consumption.

Many would think that fantasizing mouth-watering food is normal and that eating a large amount certain instance during a week is healthy. Some even treat it as a reward, especially during a stressful or celebratory period. Frequency though should be observed.

When binging occurs more than three times a week in a span of three months, this can be linked with binge eating disorder (BED). If a person feels like what’s happening is already getting unusual, seeking medical help is the best way to.

Medical practitioners admit that BED is something that’s not well recognized, but further studies strengthen the argument that binging is a kind of eating disorder that can be detected with several unique characteristics.

Doctors have a series of questions that allows them to diagnose a person with suspected BED.

Many would not admit though that they are suffering from eating disorder which is something common.

While there is a social stigma that hinders people to confess that there’s really a true problem that’s going on, it is important to stress the fact that eating disorder in general is a medical condition that can be prevented if not treated.
