We cannot say that a party is a party if there is no wine served. However, not all party- goers drink alcohol. Some just want to chill and be with their friend’s party. But how can a party-goer who’s not into the alcoholic drink can enjoy the party and join every “cheers” session? Well, thanks to mocktail! Ever heard of it? From its root word “mock” or to mimic, or imitate, a mocktail is a drink that is served just like a cocktail, but with minimum or zero alcohol content. A mocktail saves the day for non-alcoholic party people.
While cocktail is an alcoholic mixed drink, it is perfect to be served for the older ones, therefore mocktails are served for the younger guests in the parties or events. The good thing with mocktails is that you won’t get intoxicated while enjoying the party. Cocktails should be taken in moderation for the alcohol content, though its 4 parts of a glass, it might lead to mild intoxication, or even worse.
It is said that mocktails are cocktails without spirits. No kick. No punch. Just taste. For example, is the Pina Colada. This cocktail has a creamy topping with the spirit and the pineapple juice below.
In some recipe, all its ingredients are blended with crushed ice and served creamed all over. But with the Virgin Pina Colada, a mocktail, you’ll experience its pleasure and taste without the kick. Spirit free Pina Colada as some may call it. Both have the same creamy texture, the same taste (though its cocktail has a bit of punch because of its base) and both enjoyable.
In some bars and restaurant, mocktails are classified as ladies’ drink. It’s mild. And because of the styles and garnishes, it’s really tempting. In preparing these “tails”, presentation and appearance are important aspects along with the taste.
For example, is the rainbow punch, it looks like a rainbow because the colors in the wine do not mix unless stirred.
Mocktails and cocktails are said to aid in losing weight, detoxification, proper metabolism, fair skin and staying fit. To help you get fit, you might want to have a mocktail punch in your lunch and a glass of your favorite cocktail at night.
