Building a career does not happen overnight. Acquiring skills takes time and being an expert in the field of your choice would really require practical know how and experience that will help you be the best at what you do.
Hopping from one company to another would not be much help because of the negative connotation that is linked to it such as impatience and non-commitment. However, this does not mean that you have to stay in one place and just see stare at that world you see outside the window.
While there are stories about climbing the corporate ladder swiftly, we cannot deny the fact that the recipe for success is pure hard work and dedication. But really, when is the best time to walk away from all the work that has defined you for months or years and find a greener pasture elsewhere?
Changing careers isn’t at all easy. Attachment towards the job and all the people you’ve worked with will always come in. Stepping out of the office that has played a part in your life can be scary especially if it means facing uncertainties that a new job or the outside world can bring. But do not let the threat of confusion discourage you as moving from a different field to another has positive effects as well.
Jumping into a different company also includes self-reinvention. Acquiring new skills and experience will involve a whole new perspective. While the corporate world asks us to learn and cope quickly, make sure to keep that balance and avoid being devoured by the pressure coming from either your own self or outside factors. Things can be tough yes, especially if you are just starting, but believing that good things are about to happen will make a difference.
Remember that change can be uncomfortable, but it also means growth. Do not be too hard on yourself and focus on the things you can control.
Treat every obstacle with optimism as attitude plays a big role in creating a positive outcome. Go back to the reason why you decided to have a career change and always stick to that when the going gets tough.
