Most or all of us have this episode in our teenage lives when we decide to take that huge leap of getting a tattoo. We surmised that this action is something to express ourselves or to exercise liberty as how most people our age have done and are currently doing. Tattoos are an accepted form of art and a beautiful form at that and yet, there will come a time when we just want to have our original skin back and void all of our fantasies of getting more ink blotched on our skin.
They say that the ends justified the means, but if you’re one of the many people who have succumbed to the life-altering event of removing your tattoo, you shouldn’t fret as this is still doable especially now that we have developed into a world surrounded by technology.
In a recent study, there are 17% of people who have regretted getting their tattoos due to these three reasons—it’s an ex-lover’s name, the resulting look is way different from what they expected and it was plain stupid. Women, as expected, are usually the ones getting their tattoos removed at the soonest possible time after the three aforementioned reasons sink in and this usually happens between the ages of 24 and 39.
Recently, there have been a lot of ways to remove that piece of art off your skin, and yes, most of them would require a small amount of pain but a huge chunk of your budget.
Some of the ways are dermabrasion (sanding of tattooed skin until the second layer of then skin which will lead to scarring and eventually ink removal), cryosurgery (the skin in question is frozen to a specific temperature and will be later detached from your epidermal layer), excision (literally removing the patch of tattooed skin with a medical scalpel, closes the wound by stitching) and fading creams (chemical peels and salts intended to ‘fade’ you tattooed skin).
The best way though, as some would attest, is to use the wonders of laser removal. Since the 1980s, this has been tagged as the safest and most effective method of getting that tattoo ink removed with minimal pain and lower cost.
Similar to tattoo application, you must first consult a medical expert before tattoo removal and the procedure must be performed with three times more care. Laser surgeries should be made by appointment with a surgeon to set proper expectations on as to what will happen. While not really suggested, go grab yourself a trusted surgeon for this operation and they must own at least three tattoo removal lasers so that you are ensured of getting the task done successfully.
The number of sessions needed for tattoo removal depends on the type of tattoo a person has and some might even take 10 sessions of treatments for a complete procedure. Generally, people who have undergone this operation described the laser procedure akin to a rubber band being snapped at your skin multiple times, and they have concluded that it is better that getting the tattoo application.
After the treatment, a dressing would surely be applied on the area of depression with a prickly feeling similar to sunburn as the initial sensation. Protective and healing ointments would also come in handy to hasten skin recovery and protect you from getting skin infections during the healing process.
